Digital 7″ Number 1

Ok so here are 2 out takes from Holy Shit. The A side is “Ham on acid” a completely ridiculous song that makes no sense what-so-ever but it cracks me up every time I hear it. Second we have “Domestic Santa” another ridiculous song thats probably mildly offensive. Both rock like hell and I will continue to upload new Digital 7″s with new original songs but for the first I wanted to kick it off with some awesome out takes. Enjoy!

The Amazing Scientists – Our Existence is Bewildering (2008)

Our first full length album and our switch from guitar driven songs to nintendo gameboy driven songs. Around the time that we were finishing Holy Shit we discovered 2 programs, the first was Nanoloop 2.2 for the gameboy advance and the second was LSDJ for the gameboy. We decided to incorporate these into our songs and build songs around these new tools. The combination of gameboy and guitars works pretty well together. We made an album that we are really proud to have done and it’s something different. This was released through 4 Channel records a chiptune web label home to some pretty kickass chiptune artists like Chiptots and Give Up New York. The song “The effects of caffeine on the super powered” was featured on a chiptune compilation over at Calm Down Kidder Records. Download our Gameboy Pop classic thats full of 8 bit sounds, bizarre lyrics, guitars and laughs.

Holy Shit!!! It’s The Amazing Scientists EP (2007)

Debut Ep from our band The Amazing Scientists and the first Solar Powered Calculator release. Originally available through Amazon MP3 and Itunes but I feel this album should be downloadable for free. We recorded Holy Shit between the fall of 2006  and summer 2007 with 17 songs and 1 fake trailer which we cut it down to the 7 song you now get to hear. It’s a nice little EP that really doesn’t sound anything close to what we would record for our full length “Our Existence is Bewildering.” So download and give a listen to “Holy Shit!!! It’s the Amazing Scientists.”

The Sexperts – Keeping your toaster

No not the 60′s stag film, just a little band that we started as a joke. The end result is the song I post for you now. We originally wanted to call the song Geraldine but soon realized that Glasvegas already had a song under that name, which is a totally kick-ass song by the way. The Sexperts consists of my self and Chris Negrini, written and recorded in an afternoon last year. It’s a really classy song, so enjoy!

RIP Mark Linkous

On Saturday March 6th Mark Linkous the lead singer and primary member of Sparklehorse took his own life. He was an extremely talented song writer and a huge influence on many. The 4 studio albums that Sparklehorse released are very memorable with “It’s a wonderful life” being my personal favorite. In 2009 working with producer Dangermouse the 2 men crafted an extraordinary album Dark night of the soul with the help of many friends including Wayne Coyne (Flaming Lips), Jason Lytle (Grandaddy), Iggy Pop and David Lynch. The album wasn’t released as scheduled due to legal  issues with EMI but thankfully will be seeing a official release this summer. As a sorta tribute to Mark Linkous I decided to record a cover of one of my favorite Sparklehorse  songs “King of Nails.” It’s a pretty noisy version that hopefully Linkous would have enjoyed.
